The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a member institute of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), established in 2012. It is an innovative, professional and entrepreneurial organisation committed to greening and sustainability. THEi offers over 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes across six Academic Departments: Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology. These programmes integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications cover industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring that students can apply what they learn effectively. THEi's undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, as well as by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate. Position 1: Professor / Associate Professor in the Department of Hospitality and Business Management

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to provide strong academic leadership by contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and review of the academic programmes under the Department of Hospitality and Business Management.  The appointee will also provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development of programme modules for the academic programmes in the Department; and research activities in the field of Business Administration, particularly in Business Intelligence and Analytics, Cyber Security in Business, Digital Marketing, Public Relations and Events Management, Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programmes; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programmes.  The appointee will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programmes.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Business Administration, Tourism and Hospitality, or a related area, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrated achievement in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields.  The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills, and possess high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.  A proven record of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage. 

 

Position 2: Professor / Associate Professor in the Department of Digital Innovation and Technology

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to provide strong academic leadership by contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and review of the academic programmes under the Department of Digital Innovation and Technology. The appointee will also provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development of programme modules for the academic programmes in the Department; and research activities in the field of Computer Science & Information Technology, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Graphics, Multimedia Technology and Game Technology.

The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programmes; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programmes. The appointee will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programmes.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Graphics, or a related area, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrated achievement in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields. The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills, and possess high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua. A proven record of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage.

 

Position 3: Professor / Associate Professor (Healthcare Management and Advanced Technology)

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to provide strong academic leadership by contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and periodic review of the academic programmes under the Department of Food and Health Sciences. This will include leading the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; the curriculum development of programme modules for the academic programmes in the Department; and research activities and industry collaboration in the field of Healthcare Management and Advanced Technology.

The appointee will also take part in teaching, supervising student work, delivering quality programmes, and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to advancing research, consultancy, networking, and collaboration with industry partners to promote the Institute and the programmes. The appointee will also be expected to maintain close liaison with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on interdisciplinary collaborative arrangements at the intersection of healthcare systems and emerging technologies.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Healthcare Management, Health Informatics, Medical Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Public Health, or a related discipline, with strong and relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level; proven experience in academic leadership, curriculum development, research, and scholarly activities, and have work experience in professional practice in the relevant fields. The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills, and possess a high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua. A proven record of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage.

 

Position 4: Professor / Associate Professor in the Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to provide strong academic leadership by contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and review of the academic programmes under the Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering.  The appointee will also provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development of programme modules for the academic programmes in the Department; and research activities in the field of Automation and Robotics, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Data Analytics and System Engineering.

The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programmes; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programmes.  The appointee will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programmes.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related area, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrated achievements in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields.  The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills, and possess high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.  A proven record of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage.

 

Position 5: Professor / Associate Professor (Music Technology)

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to contribute to the planning, development, implementation, and review of strategies for continuous improvement for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Technology (MT) and other relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants shall be prominent in the music industry who are able to leverage their expertise and networks in curriculum design, programme development and enhancement, delivering high-quality programmes, as well as programme promotion, and obtaining support from relevant industries by providing evidence of proactive collaboration with industry professionals, professional organisations, and other educational institutions to achieve desired outcomes.  S/he will provide strong academic and management leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; cross-disciplinary curriculum development, student recruitment and programme accreditation exercises.  S/he should also possess experience in tertiary-level teaching, including the supervision of student projects, scholarly and applied research activities, and in fostering a collaborative and cooperative work culture.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Music, Music Studies, Music Production, Music Technology, Music Therapy, or a related discipline, with relevant and substantial teaching experience at the tertiary level, and should demonstrate excellent academic and management leadership, good music-related industrial networks, achievements in professional practice and applied research activities for creative application of music technology, preferably at a national award level.  The candidate should demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with achievements in cross-disciplinary research and scholarly activities, and experience in accreditation exercises.  A proven record of linkages with industry and professional bodies would be an advantage.  Experience in arranging student internships and supervising honours projects, managing funded projects, and the use of technological devices for teaching and research will also be an advantage.  The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills, and possess high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua, and must fulfil one of the following criteria:

(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or

(b) Received a recognised Bachelor's degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or

(c) At least 3 years' work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or

(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:

i.Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission; or

ii.Level 3 or above in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.

 

Position 6: Senior Lecturer / Lecturer (Music Technology)

Major Duties:

The appointee shall report to the Programme Leader and Head of Department and engage in teaching and related learning activities in sound and/or music technology. The appointee will also contribute to programme and curriculum development, student learning support, and provide academic and administrative support for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Technology programme.  Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

(a) Delivering lectures and practical sessions on music technology, focusing on professional software such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD);

(b) Teaching the application and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in music creation, sound design, and production workflows;

(c) Instructing students in advanced audio processing, including Dolby Atmos and other immersive audio technologies;

(d) Developing and updating the programme curriculum and assessment materials in line with industry trends;

(e) Supporting students' academic and practical learning, including the supervision of projects and portfolios; and

(f) Participating in academic and scholarly activities and providing administrative support for the programme.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have:

● A recognised Master's degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in Sound or Music Technology, or related fields, with good professional standing.

● At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level and/or relevant experience in the relevant fields (those with less experience will be considered for the post of Lecturer).

● Proficiency in music production software and technology, with hands-on experience in Unity, Unreal Engine, Wwise, FMOD, and AI-based music creation tools.

● Advanced knowledge of sound engineering, including immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and related spatial/immersive audio workflows.

● Basic knowledge and practical experience in coding/programming as applied to music technology (e.g. scripting in Unity/Unreal, Max/MSP, Pure Data, or similar environments).

● An up-to-date understanding of industry trends and practices in music technology, interactive media, and related creative industries.

● Good interpersonal and communication skills, and high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua. All classes are conducted in Putonghua.

Candidates must also fulfil one of the following language criteria:

(e) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or

(f) Received a recognised Bachelor's degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or

(g) At least 3 years' work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or

(h) Attained one of the following qualifications:

i.Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission; or

ii.Level 3 or above in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.

 

Position 7: Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Master of Science in Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management)

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to contribute to the planning, development, implementation and periodic review of the Master of Science in Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management (MScDTHM) programme. The programme aims to equip students with advanced management skills related to digital innovation and emerging technologies in the tourism and hospitality industry, including digital marketing strategies, data-driven ESG and sustainable tourism practices, and digital-enabled quality service management.

The appointee will be required to provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies and curriculum development in at least one of the following modules:

● AI Revolutions and Applications in Tourism & Hospitality;

● Business Intelligence & Analytics;

● Capstone Applied Project;

● Cyber Security in Business;

● Digital Business Strategy & Transformation;

● Digital Marketing;

● Ethics in a Digital World;

● Innovations in the Global Tourism & Hospitality Industry;

● Research Methods & Data Analytics in Tourism & Hospitality Management;

● Smart Technologies in Tourism & Hospitality;

● Strategic Innovation & Entrepreneurship;

● Technologies in Customer Service Management;

● Technology Solution for ESG and Sustainable Tourism & Hospitality; and

● Tourism & Hospitality Revenue Management.

The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering a quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, and collaboration with industry partners to promote the Institute and the programme. S/he will also be expected to maintain close liaison with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programme. Experience in new programme development and accreditation exercises is highly preferred.

The appointee will provide face-to-face and potentially online instruction at the graduate and/or undergraduate level in both Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management and related courses, as well as maintaining a record of excellence in teaching, student advising and career mentoring. The appointee appointed at the rank of Professor / Associate Professor will be required to oversee the MScDTHM and related programmes and to play a major role in the accreditation and re-accreditation exercises of the MScDTHM programme.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management or related discipline, with relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level; demonstrated achievements in research and scholarly activities, and possess experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua. S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:

(a) Mother tongue / language is Putonghua; or

(b) Received a recognised Bachelor's degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or

(c) At least 3 years' work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or

(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:

i.Grade B, Level 3 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission.

Position 8: Senior Lecturer (Master of Science in Digital Tourism and Hospitality Management)

Major Duties:

S/he should have experience in supervising students' Capstone Projects, and demonstrate high proficiency in Putonghua and English. Strong Cantonese proficiency is an advantage. S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:

(a) Mother tongue / language is Putonghua; or

(b) Received a recognised Bachelor's degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or

(c) At least 3 years' work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or

(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:

i.Grade B, Level 3 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission.
